Melva Elaine Gowan, 63, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in Needville, Texas.


Meg was born April 25, 1962, in Columbus, GA to the late Ervin Montgomery Gowan, Jr. and Savannah Melvina Gowan.


Meg is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Linda Sue Murphy.


Meg is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Phillip Ervin Gowen and Mary Rebecca Gowan of Lafayette, AL., her brother Robert Wayne Gowan of Prattville, AL., her girlfriend, Kathleen Marie O’Dowd, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and first cousins, as well as numerous caring friends all loved by Meg.


Meg was a draftsman by trade and had worked locally at Dreco National Oilwell. Meg was an artist, musician, and singer and had a deep love for animals and was an active animal rescuer.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church 9214 Main St. in Needville, Texas.  Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Guy Public Cemetery.

Meg's funeral service this Saturday is being postponed until further notice due to the impending winter storm.

Aunty Meg, was so kind! Funny and she loved her animals. She was warm and I loved her dearly. I know she is in heaven watching over US. Meg you are truly missed. Love you always. Lanray Easler
