Melvin "Sonny" Robert Anderson Jr.

Melvin Robert Anderson, Jr. passed from this life on August 3rd at his home in Catoosa, Oklahoma surrounded by family and friends.

Melvin was affectionately known as “Sonny” by all who know him.  Sonny was born on January 2, 1945, in Poteau, Oklahoma to parents Melvin and Hazel Anderson.

Sonny had an incredible “force of nature” work ethic.  He co-owned and operated a dry wall business.  Prior to retiring he was an over the road truck driver.

Sonny was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time on his property.

Sonny was devoted to his family.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He also loved and supported his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Sonny spent 22 years with his beloved wife Debbie, they were married on December 31, 2009, in Idabel, Oklahoma.

Sonny and Debbie spent 19 years as team truck drivers.  Together, they traveled the country.

Sonny is survived by his wife of the home Debbie; daughter Jean McGuire and husband Jason; Grandchildren Paige Jones and husband Lucas, Josie McGuire and Boone McGuire; Great-Grandchildren Lucas Jones and Margaret Jones.

Sonny is also survived by his siblings; sister Kay Harmon and husband Roger, sister Regina Strickland and husband Gary, brother Roger Anderson, brother Mike Anderson and wife Bobbi; along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 am, Thursday, August 8, 2024, also at Traditions Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, OK, 918-247-7373.
