Dear Tuji, The many times we spent biking, hiking, back packing, vacationing, ATVing, and just exercising, never thought it would be without Mel. He was the one that kept us going, showed the courage, walked the talk for the most part. He always had the ice cream money just in case. He was the encouragement when we didn't think we could make it all the way on a ride or run. He was the smile that made us glad when we felt blue. We will remember him with much love and sadness. Dear Tuji,
I am so fortunate that you and Mel made room in your lives for a new friend (me)! Mel's energy, courage, cleverness, ambition, generous spirit and zest for life were infectious. How lucky all of us who caught that infection are! Namaste Phyllis

Mel was a great inspiration to me at Dow Corning, especially with fitness and bike riding. I ride to work today because of his example to me many years ago. His character and contagious smile will continue to influence me, and I'm honored to have known him.

Dear Tuji, Jim and I will always remember Mel's warm smile, and devilish personality. He was one of the happiest people we have ever met.

Dear Tuji,
I have known both of you for a long time. Sorry to hear about Mel passing away. Mel always made me smile when I saw him, and was always willing to help if I needed it. I will miss him, he was a great man. I will never forget him.

I meet Mel thirty years ago, running upstairs at the midland comm. center. He was like a father, buddy, & coach to me. He was one of the kindness men I knew. I went to the MMC yesterday & swam, went upstairs & did a couple miles in the memory of my old friend. Mel you will be missed.

Dear Tuji -- We have only known you & Mel for five years, but there were some of the most fun, special times we have had. There was never a dull moment sitting at the 'round table' with Mel and you and the rest of the posse. I'll always remember the last time I saw him before you left for FL. We have a lot of Mel stories but will miss the creation of new ones. We Love You, Tuji. God Bless you and your family.
