My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Mr. Melvin Becks. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Melvin since I was a kid in Jewett, Leon County, Texas. I worked alongside him and his family in the fields hoeing weeds from around peas and watermelons on rows that seemed to stretch on to the horizon. I spent an eternity on an old International tractor bailing countless square bales of hay in fields that Melvin and some of his brothers and friends worked with my Uncle Bobby...
