To the family of Mel, my condolences. Mel was a dear friend and neighbor back in the day.

I was deeply sadden by this news, My name is Louis Jackson--A-K-A Kool bro P-Nut King of the Calls, Ex-Pres.of Klub Omega Experience.I use to call Mel's show in the late 60's., I called so much that he gave me a private number that would allow me to get right through to him then on the air. I'll always Love my Mamma, Color Him Father, A Family Reunion, Respect Yourself, Say it Loud, Bad Luck, Wake Up Everybody, Treat Her Like A Lady... A musical road map to survival for many growing up in Hartford back in the day. The Cooker and other DJ's provided us with a course to follow. Mr. Butler you will be missed but never forgotten. Condolences to the family of Melvin Butler.

Retired with extra time on my side, my good friend and I recently recited names of discjockeys at WKND back in the day. The Cooker, Chuck Stevens and Muleman and others played the music of our lives growing up in Hartford. The summers in Philly ment WDAS was the jammin radio station to listen to, The Cooker was there too. Rest in Peace My Brother you have given a lot good memories to us.
