Mel, was a great loss to the music family in Edmonton, the memories are endless he inspired countless musicians, when I was eight years old I was invited to the McCormack house on 61st 120 ave to listen to the A&W lords practice two to three times a week, they lit up the block with onlookers it was a musical experience back in the day , Montrose will always be the start of his musical career here in Edmonton Alberta

At the beginning I saw Mel and the A&W Lords playing on top of the southside A&W. Summertime was great everytime I heard him sing. Wonderful voice and great spirit. Thank you Mel for the wonderful memories.
