Not sure what to say?

I just met Dr. Fish's granddaughter last week and she told me about him. His name resonated with me and I couldn't figure out why. Then I looked at his obit and realized that he served as one of the first four missionaries on Taiwan! My dad came along several years later, but Elder Fish was a name that was always revered and remembered as a forerunner. Dad recalls seeing him at one of the Taiwan reunions - 40th? 50th? I'm so grateful that he had such an impact on his family - especially Steph...

I had the pleasure to sit in s friends home in Roy,UT and be taught by this incredible man and his wife. I am grateful for his knowledge and his willingness to share. They are both delightful people. I was sad to hear of his passing so late after his death.

Another memory of this great teacher and person? Once I grew up and had kids of my own who were on JR. High and HS, I showed them math secrets and techniques I learned in Mr. Fish's class. And to make the lesson stick with them, I would share a story or two and tell them about him and the class at East High! I will be forever grateful for his teaching abilities. Mark McNabb

Mr. Fish was an awesome teacher! I had him for Algebra at East High School. The principals he taught, and the way he taught them helped me learn to love math! I loved his stories he shared during class. He will be missed, but not forgotten!

Hello my friend. I still think of you almost every day. Though I never got to meet you in this lifetime I know were kindred spirits. I emailed you a few days before you passed away to see if you could mentor me or have a good chat. I knew when I found out about your passing that there was a reason for the timing and I was to learn for myself and carry on this important work. If there is anyone who would like to share their experience and time with Melvin with me please reach out 214-293-2692...

I just found out about Melvin's passing today, a year after he left us. I am very sad because the man that I considered my mentor, teacher and friend is gone from us. I cannot repay all the help, teaching and love that Dr. Fish and Gwena have imparted to us and our family. I will greatly miss our talks and insights that he has imparted to me. I have read all his books, listened to his seminars and feel that my life has been truly blessed by his mission. I would like to keep in touch with...

I just found out about Mr. Fish's passing. I speak of him often. I was struggling with math in middle school. He was my freshman math teacher. Thanks to his explanations of difficult math concepts, I finally started to understand and then began to excel in math. In college, I took math for fun. He had a huge impact on my life and many others! He was one of my favorite teachers. He will be missed!

Melvin along with Thomas Nielson introduced the gospel to my wife, Kuo Mei Hsiang, in Tainan, Taiwan early in 1958. Tom said that was the 1st house they got into in Tainan. We saw Melvin in Taipei in 2006 during the 50 year celebration. We live in Spring, TX. [email protected]
