I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful man on several occasions through my very good friend Bonnie. I had the pleasure of spending time with him at Mrs Blackwell's 100th birthday celebration, at Bonnie and John's wedding, and at a few cookouts the family was gracious enough to include me in. It was always a pleasure to talk with him. My prayers are with each and every one of you.

My first memory of Uncle Melvin was after Gary and I married. He took me to meet his famiy. Uncle Melvin was so excited to have someone new to show the Mill Mounton Star to. Then there was the time we were on vacation with my two granddaughters. We stopped and visited Melvin and Virginia. He was so excited to take them to the Star. He bought them an ice cream on the way home. They were all talking at once and still my girls ask after him. I will alway love and respect him for the kind...

I remember all the years when I was little people and Melvin and Virginia would took care of me during the summers. I rember his big smiles when he first took me up to Mill Mountain and I road the train there and look out over Roanoke. I remember when he surprised me taking us to Virginia Beach. He sure liked to eat and travel. I'm glad I was able to show him around Hawaii while I was stationed there. I still have his World War II books he gave me and his stories about his time in the...
