Read MoreMelvin was an awesome individual. My family and I had the opportunity to meet him when he and my dad, Clyde Horsley, shared a room at Fairmont Crossing. I spent many hours conversing with Melvin and am very glad I got to know him. Melvin kept an eye on my dad when we weren't there, and we will always be grateful for his watchful eye and for his friendship.

My wife and I got to know Melvin when he was at the nursing home in Amherst. He was roommates with my father-in-law. We enjoyed talking with him and especially enjoyed his sense of humor. He even wrote Janet and I a poem because he felt touched by our new friendship. We will miss him!
