Several PHS pharmacists having just learned of Mel´s passing are grieved. May he rest in peace.

During the time that Mel and I worked together as US Public Health Service Officers, on occasion got to critique each other's draft written materials. I usually told Mel that he wrote more than necessary and Mel, also usually, told me that I need to write more to add clarity. Our discussions were sometimes spirited, yet fully respectful. In the net, and proven over time, Mel made me into a better writer and thinker. Although it didn't strike me at the time, he indeed was a mentor to me. ...

I was so sorry to read of your loss and wanted to offer my condolences to your family. My hope is that you will find a measure of comfort from your memories, find faith in scriptural promises and gain strength in prayer and the prayers of others.
