Edith, Mel and Myra with the Schreibers and many others. August 1965

Mel will always be remembered as a special uncle, the raconteur whose musings on any subject would captivate, the artist with paint and brush in hand, the gastronomique who always loved a fine meal and a glass of wine. He lived life with courage and celebrated it with humor and zest.

I attach a photo that spans the past forty years from my Bar Mitzvah in 1965. The Schreibers and Marshalls were as one and I recall many family occasions together- Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, summer vacations...

Mel will always be remembered as a
wonderful Bon Vivant,an artist and a raconteur with his own views on so many subjects, all of them
quite defined....his well-cut bespoke attire and classical shirts and ties, setting off his smile and wit...
So many memories with Edith when I came into the family 45 years ago to meet Robert's great cousins who were photographers in New York City....They were a team...E&M Marshall...
And how we enjoyed those trips to NY for Sabrina's and...

My sincerest condolences to Mel's beloved family, and in particular, to Edith, Sabrina and Jeremy. Though I did not know him well, I, too, will always remember Mel's warmth and great presence: every room was brightened by his being in it.

I hope that time will prove to be the healer it is reputed to be and that you will all derive comfort from the lifetime of wonderful memories Mel has engraved upon your hearts. May you all be inscribed for a healthy and happy New...

Adding my warm and loving thoughts to this book is a rare pleasure. I remember meeting the Marshall family many long years ago, and experiencing the deepening friendship between Julie and Sabrina, Mel and Edith, and those wonderful paintings through the years. On Julie's wall remains a testament to the immortality that art can provide. Yes, a celebration is in order. My thoughts are with you all.

We embrace you from afar-- and shall treasure forever the uncountable wonderful memories we have of our dear Mel, "the boulevardier".
