Fondly remember my first Ted Drewes with Mel... ...and the memories get sweeter from there! Thank you, Mel.

I had the pleasure of serving with Doc Meyer for approximately 10 years when we both were in VR51. I have many great memories of him, especially on the several DETS/trips to Rota, Spain. I believe he made more trip there than any one else in the squadron and recall that he would stay for extended periods so he could offer his medical expertise at the on base medical facility. He was a great guy and will be missed by many.

Doc Meyer was one of my squadron mates in VR-51 for a number of years. He truly loved the Navy and the Navy loved him. I recall one time when I was Officer in Charge of a Rota det and a couple of our sailors got into a bit of trouble with the Air Force. The word got back to the admiral in Naples and he gave me a little call and advice that we would have to make up with the Air Force ops people in Rota. I was in Sicily at the time and I called Doc in Rota and asked him to get all spiffed up...
