Melvin Earl Modderman

Melvin was born on November 13, 1940 and passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Melvin was a resident of Elizabethtown, Kentucky at the time of his passing. He attended Coopersville schools and graduated from Coopersville High school in 1958. He attended The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. While in the Army he attended Baylor University, St. Mary's University, and George Washington University obtaining two Masters, and a Doctorate Degree in Healthcare Administration. After graduating he joined the Army and stayed for 29 years. Mel served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was married to Sue. Services will be held on Monday May 9th at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethtown. Visitation will begin at 10 am and continue after the service. There will be a lunch with visitation continuing until 3:30. Friends will be encouraged to call at the home from 5 to 7 pm. He will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery. The family recommends that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethtown, KY, The Community Health Clinic of Hardin-Larue Counties, or The Melvin E Modderman Memorial Scholarship Fund.
