Fond memories of our families when I was a child boating and fishing on the river. Mel had a fun loving personality that always made you laugh and smile. We are so happy we've been able to visit with Mel and Norma in the past years. My folks met Mel and Norma back in the late 40's after the war and my mother and dad came out here from Kansas. Mel and Norma lived for many years across the street from my mother and father in Parkrose. My father was in a wheelchair and Mel and Norma would always help where they could. After my father died, Mel and Norma would "watch across the street" daily to make sure my mother was alright. They both were the best neighbors, and friends, that anyone could ask for. My husband use to love to talk to Mel because as he put it; "Mel tells it like it is, straight and clear." Mel was a great man.
