Melvin Thomas Powers, 61, of 119 Evans Drive, Grandy, died at a Hampton, Va., hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006. Graveside services will be held at Westlawn Cemetery Sunday at 2 p.m. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements.
