Uncle Melvin aka Uncle Malley was a solid rock for our family. He shall be dearly missed. The Graveside Service on Thursday September 7th was a special time for me and my Father, Melvin's brother Johnny. I learned much from my cousins Richard Rex and Garry Siegenthaler who both gave amazing words of wisdom in honor of Melvin Rex. We were all so lucky and blessed that the entire family left South Dakota in the 1940's for the abundance of the Willamette Valley and I will remember forever...

Love never gives up: its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal. What we see now is like the dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. What we know now is only partial; then it will be complete, as complete as God's knowledge of me. Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope and love; and the greatest of these is love.

Granddad,
Some of my best memories were in your garage making wood guns and cars with you and Jeff. I always enjoyed our time together and look forward to being your partner again in a game of pinochle in heaven.
Love you Matt, Stacy, Tyler, Lila and Aspen

He taught me how to skillfully use my hands, skills I use to this day. Grandpa taught me how to be humble when victory was at hand. Funny thing about Grandpa, he was a man of...

Knowing Melvin Rex was an honor, privilege and a delight. He was an example of the kind of person who made this country great. He was a link to the America of the past, with his stories of farming in South Dakota in the Depression, cattle drives, trapping and fishing, and building the ships that helped us win World War II. He was a keen observer of nature, and human nature, often sharing quick and accurate observations about people and events. He had a great sense of humor, telling stories...
