Melvin held a very special place in our hearts. There was never a dull moment when he was around. No one could outtalk him as he was willing to engage you on whatever subject was pertinent at the time. His desire to serve and help those who were in need reflected the love he had for people as well as the kingdom of God. He was mindful of serving God and making sure he was functioning in the will of God. Melvin, you will be missed by us and so many other people. God blessed us by giving you to...

I first met Melvin as my counselor in early 2000, we became friends. When we seen each other he would always asked how I'm doing. I moved around the corner from him and we would visit each other's house. He was a very caring man and I will miss him.

He had a wonderful laugh and, as we'd drive to Giant, I or the kids would ask," Will Mel be there?" He'd put his elbows up on the counter and ask, "Only 2 kids today?" Always smiling, always friendly, I don't know how...

Melvin came to me for help in making a career change and stayed in touch with me over the time I worked at Temple U. He was a man who made others feel cared for and happy due to his sense of understanding, humor and fun. The Harrisburg community has lost a wonderful member and will be missed.
