Mr. Wilson's passion for our Schools exemplified his advocacy for our youngest, most-vulnerable neighbors. His gravity helped hold us all together.

I met Melvin some years back.l already saw him as a unique individual.He devoted most of his life in helping others.He was a very spiritual person.I remember how people would laugh at his sense of humor which was unique.He had many sides to him down to earth and many times a serious side when needed.He was a friend a colleague a brother.We shard many good times together.He was a people person.with all the accolades him and I had.It didn't mean anything We were for the continuing enrichment...

Melvin held a very special place in our hearts. There was never a dull moment when he was around. No one could outtalk him as he was willing to engage you on whatever subject was pertinent at the time. His desire to serve and help those who were in need reflected the love he had for people as well as the kingdom of God. I first met Melvin as my counselor in early 2000, we became friends. When we seen each other he would always asked how I'm doing. I moved around the corner from him and we would visit each other's house. He was a very caring man and I will miss him.

OMG What will we do without our, beloved Mel at the Giant Deli? I take care of 4 little ones and they all looked forward to seeing Mel. He'd give them cheese and then tell me about decorating his house for Christmas, visiting his beloved children, and just everyday stuff. He had a wonderful laugh and, as we'd drive to Giant, I or the kids would ask," Will Mel be there?" He'd put his elbows up on the counter and ask, "Only 2 kids today?" Always smiling, always friendly, I don't know how...

This news hit me like a brick. Mel you will always be missed.

Melvin- I'm sure you are making all the saints laugh. You were one funny guy. Prayers and blessings to your family.

Melvin came to me for help in making a career change and stayed in touch with me over the time I worked at Temple U. He was a man who made others feel cared for and happy due to his sense of understanding, humor and fun. The Harrisburg community has lost a wonderful member and will be missed.
