Not sure what to say?

I was a childhood friend of Mel, buying and trading baseball cards in the 50´s, and playing basketball together for the Elizabeth City HS Yellow Jackets in 1960 and 1961. At UNC, Mel, his close friend Ike Jackson and I shared many meals at the Pines Restaurant. We lost touch as I returned to Elizabeth City after graduation and he continued school. Jo, I am very sad hearing this news. Mel was a very good person. Myself as well as both my father and grandfather had much respect for him. He will be missed. Prayers Worth Mitchell (Son of Nick jr)

I am so very sorry for your loss. I was a colleague of Mel and enjoyed working with him. Maureen Orbock

Mel was my moot court partner in law school, fraternity brother, friend for more than 50 years, and what every lawyer should be. We were also couple friends and Jo is also the greatest. Both always kept me laughing. My wife, Robin and I send our warmest wishes and thoughts to Jo and all the family.

Jo, Bill and I are saddened to learn of your loss. Mel was truly one of the good guys - a consummate professional and wonderful human being. May he rest in peace.

Mel was such a kind neighbor who always had a smile. We will dearly miss seeing and chatting with him and Willard, his best four pawed friend. Jo, Mel and Willard will always be our favorite neighbors.

I had the pleasure of working for and with Mr. Wright. He was a very fine man and I will miss him. My deepest condolences.

Oh Jo, I am sick to hear this news! Mel was such a wonderful person and while circumstances have prevented me from seeing him over the last couple of years, I will miss him dearly. Please know you are in my prayers.
