Not sure what to say?

Dear Sarah and family, I was so saddened to hear of Mel´s passing. From childhood in Syracuse through time, I know you have so many extraordinary memories; may they serve as sweet blessings to all of the family. Fondly , karen

Sarah, I'm so sorry I'm seeing this so late. May Mel continue to rest in peace. Your's and Mel's love story was like no other. I truly appreciated the support you and Mel gave to me over the years with my small business in Manlius. I hope you are well. Jim Falco

I am very saddened to read this . Mel gave me my first real full time job at Charneys in Fairmount Fair Mall back in 1986 with a firm handshake after working part time for the store while in high school. I recall him pulling up in his station wagon with stock and we all went out to unload and bring into the store. - Great respect for the entire Charney family for believing in me 40 years ago. I never forgot Mel - or his family - for their guidance in my early years in the work force. My hard...

Sarah. Sorry for your loss

I first met and worked for Mel at the Fairmont Fair Charney's store in 1975. It was my first real job. He was always kind, honest and taught me about good customer service. I valued his input and advice.

I worked for Jerome and Mel and Phyllis in the seventies and eighties. I knew Phyllis through a mutual friend. I remember there was a help wanted sign in the front window and in true theater fashion I took it out and brought it to Phyllis and said I want the job. She walked over to Mel and told him to hire me and the rest is history as they say. From that day on Mel and I had a super relationship we had our own competition as to who would sell the most suits and sport coats in a week. I...

Dear Sarah and family, we are so sad to learn of Mel´s passing. We have great memories of our years in Syracuse and appreciate Mel´s taking care of Ed´s wardrobe needs. A great loss to the family and the Syracuse community! Sandi and Ed

I will miss our fun conversations on the patio. Talking business and personal-it didn't matter. Mel always started out with- How's your family doing. He was genuine! Sarah, if there is anything I can do for you or your family please don't hesitate to call me. All of my team always got a kick out of when we call him Mr. Charney. No, no, no my name is Mel! I am glad to have met the many years ago and truly feel he was a friend! May he rest in peace Paul Fried and all of the team

Please accept our deepest sympathy. Mel was always such a wonderful gentleman.
