ROLLINSFORD: Merle E. Bickford, 75, of General Sullivan Way died Friday November 19, 2004 at home following a brief period of failing health.

He was born in Monson, ME January 12, 1929 the son of Eugene and Eva (Anderson) Bickford. A veteran of World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army. Merle was a member of the First Parish Federated Church, South Berwick, ME. Prior to retirement, Merle was employed at Simplex Time Recorder as a Repair Technician. He was a member of the Ponderosa Hawks, which is a remote control plane-flying club.

Merle was the widower of Carlene G. (Bishop) Bickford who died March 6, 2002.

Members of his family include his son, Brent Bickford and his wife Tina of Barrington, a daughter, Lynette (Mrs. Edward) Jokilehto of Rollinsford and Theresa Brown of Dover whom Merle considered a daughter. Two grandchildren, Karyssa Bickford and Marisa Brown also survive him.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday November 23, 2004 at 2:00PM at the First Parish Federated Church, Main St. South Berwick with Rev. Donna Lee Muise, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in New Town Cemetery, Monson, ME.

The family is requesting donations in Merle’s memory to the Seacoast Hospice Care 642 Central Avenue Dover, NH 03820

Merle was a good friend to me. He with his expertise was always there to help anyone with problems. He will be sorely missed by me and many others. With deepest sympathy and love, Bill Bodah.
