Merle J. Hill

I am so glad that we had those several days together two years ago....we had a lot of laughs and drank a lot of beer much of which was bought for "those two old guys"...I am 83 now but remember you well when my dad "Doc" would take us to the Hill Farm to see Caddy and his family in the early 1950´s....and you really impressed me with your vitality even then......I have been trying to send you some old family pictures but they were returned to me twice...I would like to send them to your son...

So sorry to here of Merle´s passing may he rest in peace !

Golfed many years with Merle in Tribune golf league. Usually cards afterward. Always said he had the sweetest golf swing I ever saw. My sincere condolences to all of you.

We have lost a great man, mentor, friend and social buddy. As city editor of the La Crosse Tribune, I could count on Merle's wisdom when I had a question in need of a knowledgeable answer. Many hours of golf and euchre were enjoyed with this journalistic giant. Even though Merle reached the ripe age of 102, it was a shock to read his obituary. Peace to you, friend. You deserve the best that the after-life can offer. Sincere condolences to the Hill family from Betty and Larry Olson, Sioux...

I met Merle at his 100th birthday celebration and was impressed by his humor and spunk .I am in awe of the history that he was witness to. It sounds like a life we´ll lived , I hope all his loved ones can take comfort in that . Rest easy Merle
