Merle S. Watts

I met Merle when he moved into the townhouse next to mine in Crystal Park in 1989 or 1990. This was soon after the veterinary practice had been sold and Merle was assisting the new owner on a part-time basis. We began hiking the many trails in Crystal Park. Soon, we hiked our first “fourteener” together – Longs Peak west of Denver. It was an honor and privilege to be with Merle (and Louie) during his last days with us here on earth. He lived a wonderful life, in his own unique and remarkable way. We enjoyed seeing him continue to grow in wisdom and compassion throughout his life as he shared his passions with others, whether it was his faith, his care for animals, his love of nature and hiking, or his artistry as a wood worker. my prayers to family and many friends. I remember Watts many years ago taking my dogs to him on Fillmore. was a very warm and understanding man.

Dr. Watts helped the Gould family often when we raised St. Bernard's. One time in the middle of the night, it was necessary for him to operate on our female St. Bernard and his dear wife assisted while I babysat with their young children. Such was his compassion shared with so many of his clients. My sympathy to his family.
