Merlin G. Shook, 99, of Bangor, PA, passed away Monday, April 4th, at his residence.
Merlin was born in Bangor, PA on March 30, 1917, a son of the late Flossie (Shook) and George W. Shook, Sr.
He was employed as a welder at Nazareth Steel in Nazareth, PA, until retiring in 1980. Merlin served in the U.S. Army during WW II, as a tank and radio operator. Merlin enjoyed doing carpentry and gardening.
Merlin was a faithful member of Belfast Bible Church in Nazareth, PA . He was an avid reader of the Bible and his devotion to the Lord was present in all that he did.
Merlin is survived by two daughters, Virginia Shook and Linda Weslosky, both Bangor; a son, Stephen J. Shook and his wife Susan, of Columbia, SC; 3 grandchildren Stephen Shook, Scott Shook, and Doug Shook and his wife Kim, 2 great grandchildren Alex and Riley Shook. He was preceded in death by his two sisters Lorraine and Dora, and three brothers Bobby, George, and Donald.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, Bangor, PA. Online condolences may be made at gaffneyparsons.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Belfast Bible Church, 483 Belfast Rd, Nazareth, PA 18064.
