To the Dowson family.
Please accept my sincerest condolences.
I am in shock too. I have known Merrick for almost 30 years. Over the past 10 years he brought in wine for me from Australia that made me a US exclusive.
Yes, he was a true gentleman. We were talking in December about our families, and how lucky we both are. I will miss him. RIP my friend.

Merrick was a true gentleman and great friend. He had so many wonderful friends. He was so good at connecting with people. We shared a love of choral singing.

Dear Laura, Nathan, and Douglas,
I was so sorry to hear of your dad's death. I have so many fond memories of your family. Laura, I believe you were in Sean's class. Nathan and Douglas, I taught you in first grade. That was a very challenging year for you all. Your mom and dad were kind, empathetic, faith-filled, and inspiring.
Please know I am praying for you all. You were gifts in my life so many years ago at St. Simon School.
God bless, Mary Jo...

We first brought wine from our New Zealand Vineyard into California in 2007. Merrick and Erin at Adventures in Wine made sure it all went smoothly. Merrick was unfailingly cheerful at every step along the way. We shared a mutual love of baseball - he the Giants, and me the A's. Will miss his guidance on all things wine. Smooth sailing Merrick.
