MERRILL DAVIS DIEKEN

My condolences to you Laurel, and your family. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I did not have the chance to meet your father but know he was near and dear to your heart.

Mr. Dieken, to me, was a very sincere and smart man. In the short time I knew him he was a competitor and strategist. We played golf together with his daughter,Laurel, and he loved to play a game called Wolf. I learned how the game worked but not until I was beaten! It was great fun and he loved a good shot! Merrill was a great friend and neighbor. A man of integrity, he preserved and represented the best in our neighborhood. We will miss his charm, stories, and friendship. Our sincere condolences to the Dieken family.

Merrill was a great storyteller. Also a man with wisdom. He has taught me much over the past 15 years, and will miss those phone calls to check up on my family. He always spoke so highly of his wife and beautiful daughters and their families. He was so proud of you all! Merrill & Rita where such wonderful hosts to our visit to Houston. May God be with his family during this difficult time and fond memories bring you peace.

Merrill was a great neighbor and mentor to me in my younger crazier days. We used to talk to each other about playing golf together every time we saw one another. Finally one day Merrill and I agreed to play nine holes. I had my career day with an even par 36 on the front side. When we finished I said that I would see Merrill later and he smiled and said "there was no way he was quitting, he wanted to see if I would choke on the back 9 " I ended up with my lowest round of my life a 72, some...
