I met Merrill as a fellow investor and board member in one of the "venture consulting" enterprises mentioned in his obituary. From early on he made a strong impression as a source of business expertise, sound judgment, and decency. Over the course of 20+ years our business relationship evolved into a friendship complete with the opportunity to spend some time with Lee. I miss Merrill both in business discussions and in broader interactions focusing on family, life experiences, and the state...

Hello Lee and Jeff. I heard about Merrill´s passing from your neighbor, Debbie Fried. We´re still friends after all these years, Jeff! I am so sorry for your loss. Lee, my brother Scott Carey was a member of your church. Scott died unexpectedly on February 1st. I know he would send you his love and condolences.

Merrill was a wonderful person. He served on the Board of Directors of the company where I worked as Controller. I always enjoyed seeing him at quarterly meetings. His wisdom and advice will be missed.
