One Night to Count the Stars
It would be hard for anyone who came to Michael Iken's 37th birthday party, on the Saturday right before the disaster, ever to forget it. Michael, a bond trader at Maxcor/ Euro Brokers on the 84th floor of 2 World Trade Center, insisted that that night's celebration be at home on the terrace of the garden apartment in Riverdale he shared with his wife, Monica.

"It just had to be surf and turf," she said, "so I got his favorite teriyaki beef, and the lobster tails, and ordered his favorite key lime pie from Florida, because you just can't get decent key lime around here," she said.

Of course, close friends Jennifer and Andrea were there. The food and conversation were so great that even the neighbors stopped by.

Then all four of them sat on the lawn "and hung out till the wee hours," Monica said, "and counted the stars."

Monica cried for a bit: "I am so grateful to have that memory. Because he was so happy."

Not sure what to say?

May perpetual light shine upon you always....

In Memory!!

In lasting memory of this 9/11 victim.

Mike,
It's that time yet again...
You will NEVER be forgotten my friend.

You will never be forgotten thanks to your amazing wife. Rest in peace.

Think about you always and remember Elizabeth Seton and Ireland with you . You were a special guy who is always in the Brady's and Smith's hearts. ??

To Mike and his family, I knew Mike from High School we graduated together in 1982. He was on the boys basketball team and I played on the girls team. I was very sad to hear that he lost his life on 911. I pray for him often especially on 911 every year. I pray for his family as well and any children or wife he may have had.
God Bless to all of his loved ones! He was way to young. I hope you find some strength from this guest book.

Miss you my friend.

Dearest Michael - little brother - miss you more and more - I wish you were here to help celebrate my 75th Birthday. You are with Kathy and that brings me some comfort. Will love you always. Your sister, Anne
