Chum to the Underdog
In Glendale, N.Y, where Michael A. Marti lived, neighbors might not have known the bond trader from Cantor Fitzgerald. But they probably knew his car.
Mr. Marti, 26, wouldn't have minded. He cherished his red 1985 Camero IROC, and was known to wash and wax it whenever he got a free moment, even if the free time was at 6 a.m., or midnight. "The first word he ever said was 'daddy,' " said Rosalie A. Marti, his mother. "His second word was 'car.' "
He liked to lift weights. He loved to play and watch basketball. He was a popular, gregarious guy, who did well with the girls. But he was also quick to count loners among his circle of friends, to see interesting people and cohorts where others saw nerds and geeks.
"He would see someone who was unpopular and stick by their side and make sure they were taken care of," said Cris C. Italia, 23, a friend. "He would always favor the underdog."
Never forget you bud.

I would like the family members to know that Michael has never been forgotten. I took a random picture of a name at the Word Trade Center memorial when traveling and it ended up being Michael A. Marti. I think about him and understand why life is so precious and try to live my life every day with love and understand it´s beautiful opportunity. I would like the family to know he has never been forgotten. He will always be in my thoughts.

Michael, We think of you often in our daily lives. Last week my granddaughter graduated ( moving up ) from Sacred Heart. SH is where you went to school. I thought of you immediately. You made the world a better place. You were always able to direct Bobby and Kurt in the right direction. You were a good son, a good friend and we are all missing out on you our special friend. Please know that you are loved. I hope Tony and you met up and are shooting hoops and sharing a beer.
