Michael Dean McCord, son of Theodore and Anna (Schon) McCord, was born November 20, 1967 in Spencer, Iowa. He received his education in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School in 1986. Following graduation, Mike attended Iowa Lakes Community College where he studied Auto Mechanics.
On December 26, 1998 Mike was married to Danelle Glaser at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. They were blessed with four children and had the joy of having their nephew, Anthony be a big part of their lives.
Mike did truck driving for awhile and also drove the Rides Bus for many years. He owned and operated McCord’s Auto Service in Spencer which he truly loved. Mike was a mechanic through and through and enjoyed working on all types of vehicles.
Mike enjoyed riding motorcycles and had recently purchased a Side-by-Side. He loved spending time with his family and especially cherished every minute he could be with his grandchildren. They were each his pride and joy.
Mike passed away Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home in Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 56. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Anna McCord; father-in-law, Dan Glaser; and good friend, Skip Vanderpool.
He is survived by his wife, Danelle of Spencer, Iowa; his children, Devan McCord of Spencer, Iowa, Paige (Charlie) VanVeldhuizen, Marshall (Alyx) McCord of Spencer, Iowa, Brittany (Alex) Jenssen of Royal, Iowa; nephew, Anthony (Tiffany) Roth of Webb, Iowa; his grandchildren, Aurora, Teddie, Cash, Axel and Kaya; brothers, Dick (Deanne) McCord of Spencer, Iowa and Steve McCord of Peterson, Iowa; sisters, Judy (Barney) McCord of Spencer, Iowa and Sandi (Chris) Raveling of Peterson, Iowa; mother-in-law, Virginia Glaser of Spencer, Iowa; as well as other relatives and many friends.
