HILDEBRAND - RUSS FUNERAL HOME - Rhinelander Obituary

Michael F. McCormick

"Mike"

January 17, 1943 ~ June 20, 2023

Age ~ 80

Michael F. McCormick, age 80, of Saint Germain, WI, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023, at home due to kidney disease. He was born January 17, 1943, in Beloit, Wisconsin.

In 1980, Mike married his sweetheart and love Betty (Scott) McCormick and for three decades resided in Madison, Wisconsin and lived with their daughters’ Michele and Jana.   Upon retirement in 2013 they moved to St. Germain, Wisconsin, which they have called home for more than ten years where they have enjoyed unparalleled views of the Northwoods. He loved sharing stories about his Army days and high school days in Evansville. Mike was a curious and inquisitive guy. His passion was family, gadgets, and technology. Whatever he did, he was all in! Mike had a multitude of jobs but found his niche with computers and was self-employed for many years that even continued into retirement helping family and friends daily. Mike enjoyed golfing, riding his bike and his three-wheeler. He mastered Wii Brunswick bowling and golfing. His self-imposed code name was Chainsaw – what a sense of humor he had.

Mike is survived by his wife Betty (Scott) McCormick; their children, Michele McCormick (Paul) and Jana Strehlow; their grandchildren, Niki, and Sara Strehlow; his siblings; Gary (Betty) McCormick, Bob (Michelle) Pokorney and Linda McCormick, also survived by many close in-laws, nieces, nephews, many other family members, and close friends. Also, his loyal barking sidekick, Rubi.

Preceded in death by his parents; Alexander McCormick and Dolores (McCormick) Moyes and Infant sister, Mary Beth.

An incredibly special thank you to his care team at Davita Northern Star in Woodruff and all his doctors and nurses at Marshfield Clinic in Minocqua.

Mike’s final message: “I enjoyed life and spending time with my family and friends. To all my golfing buddies: I’ll see you on the golf course in heaven, hopefully (LOL)!”

Excerpts from unknown author: Don't grieve for me now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. God wanted me now. He set me free.

At Mike's request, there will be no visitation or service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com

Love you Aunt Betty❣I'm here for you if tou need anything. I'm praying for you and the family.

Betty, sorry to hear that Mike has left us. I now regret not making a greater effort to come up and see you two last summer. Hope you are managing everything well. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. And let me know when you get in the Madison area. It would be good to see you. Take care.

Dear Betty and family, I am so sorry to hear about Mike. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

To Betty and family and to Mac & Betty we were sorry to hear of Mike's passing. We enjoyed being friends and neighbors up in St. Germain and will always remember those neighborhood parties. We send our prayers to all of you to help you through a difficult time but know you have many good memories to help you. Mike is at peace. Sending love and hugs! Pat & Don Krueger

Betty and Family,

Jim and I were very sorry to hear about Mike's passing. Butch and Gloria called to make sure we saw his obituary in the paper.

Our Madison get-togethers with you, Mike, and friends will always be some of our best memories of being young (younger, anyway) -- those late night Sheepshead games, especially!

It sounds like Mike (and you) really enjoyed his retirement time up north and made some good friends. Hopefully, they, and your memories...

My condolences to family and friends. I pray for many loving memories that will comfort you in your loss. I have fond memories of Mike from high school.

Betty and Family, so sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories spending time in your garage parting and playing games. I know Mike will see Jim in heaven. Anne

Dear Betty and Family: Larry and I are so very sorry to hear about Mike. Sending you our since sympathy. We didn't see him much, but sure enjoyed him when we did. So glad you have Mac and Betty and all your up north friends nice and close. Take care.
