Michael Rogers and his older brother grew up going to the Missouri River near their Montana home and catching crawdads. They would bring the critters back to their mom, who would use them to make homemade gumbo. Rogers, of White Sulphur Springs, Mont., also loved snowball fights and building snow forts, said his brother, James Westcott, a sergeant in the Marines. Rogers died Nov. 27 in a non-combat related incident at Forward Operating Base Hammer, east of Baghdad. He was 23 and assigned to Fort Drum. "Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Private First Class Rodgers," Brig. Gen. John Walsh said. "There are countless others who are sharing in your loss." At a service in Townsend, Mont., Westcott spoke of growing up in the country with his younger brother. When Westcott broke down at one point in the service, an aunt took his written words and read them for Rogers'' family and friends. "My little brother is on a new adventure now," Westcott wrote. Walsh presented Rogers'' family with commendation and good conduct medals during the ceremony. Rogers is survived by his mother and brother.

Not sure what to say?

What's up man? It's been what 14 years since you passed? I think about you often. I met a guy who served with you at a veterans rally I did last year. Who was there the day of your death. Speaking to him helped easy my mind.. Knowing that those around you remember you daily helps some of the pain. I have a kid now man a 5 year old. It's crazy to see her grow up so fast. I wish you could be here to meet her. I miss you and I love you brother.

Dude! It's been 9 years.. 9 years where a day doesn't pass that I don't think of you Mike. You were a brother to me. All those years we went on adventures and had so much fun. You were there for me when no one else was. Thank you Mike for being the best friend anyone could ask for man.

It has been years and it still feels like yesterday I lost a battle buddy, though younger than I was you shared wisdom and advise. for years I have been hiding but now I am here to say thank you for being my battle buddy and I continue to serve with and for you. Thinks of you every day, and will for the rest of my life. Was an honor serving with you.

Mike.... It's been a better part of a decade since we met at Ponderosa. Dude we spent so much time together. All those times in the park or walking home from the school because we were so stubborn. Those times haven't been forgotten by me brother. I still drive through parker and remember the time we were sword fighting in the park. Or perhaps at dragonfest. Man I'll be honest. I miss you... I miss you more then I have ever been strong enough to honestly answer. Your my brother and always...
