MIchael de Lacy Adams

Michael de Lacy Adams, 89, a longtime resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Michael was born on June 3, 1936, in Bristol, England to Horace and Evelyn Adams. At the age of 16, Michael joined the British Royal Navy, serving his country across the oceans and retiring after 23 years. After retiring from the Royal Navy, he worked for British Aerospace from 1977 to 1982. In 1982, he moved to Miami, Florida to work for Martin Marietta. He transferred to Slidell, Louisiana, in 1989 where he met Irene Claire Putfark, whom he married in 1990. Michael worked for Textron from 1991-2002 and retired in 2002. Michael was an expert woodworker who loved working in his shop. He was instrumental in rebuilding several Slidell Area churches after Hurricane Katrina. Michael was a member of the New Orleans Track Club and was a competitive race walker. Michael possessed a great sense of humor and was loving, caring, cheerful, and optimistic. He served the Lord with all his might. Michael is survived by his wife, Irene Putfark Adams; his three children, Denise de Lacy Adams, Simon de Lacy Adams, and Robin de Lacy Adams; four grandchildren, Evlyn, Kathleen, Rosemary and Willow; one great-grandchild, Jude; and other relatives. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 26th, 2025, at Crossfire Church, 2020 Elsie Ave, Slidell, LA 70458. Visitation will begin at 11:00am with the service beginning at 12:00 noon.
