Not sure what to say?

I was nudged by an email to revisit Dr. Ahearn's page. I have not forgotten him. The student internship program has never been the same since he went to be with the Lord.

Dear, dear Joyce:

I do hope that you will remember me, as many times has the earth traveled around the sun since we last spoke.

I have touched the crystal bowl that you sent for my wedding many times this past year and thought of you.

Yesterday, I found a card that you sent to me in probably 1996 or so - and I have read it many times today.

So now, I have typed your name into Google, and this sad news came to the computer screen. How very much you must miss Mike. ...

Dr. Ahearn was a man of integrity and of few words, but when he spoke, you knew he was sincere and he meant business. He was kind and gentle, and always there for me, even when I was unaware of it. I learned so much from Dr. Ahearn and so many others during my time at MDACC, and words can't say how much I appreciated him and all who influenced my life. It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

I thank God that I had the privilege of having worked for such a spiritual and righteous man as Dr. Ahearn. He leaves a rich legacy of learning and caring; a legacy of hard work, determination and dedication to education and students.
Rest in peace Dr. Ahearn!
Joyce, may God keep you enfolded in his loving care and give you peace!
