Howe-Peterson Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Dearborn Obituary

Michael Jonathon Berry was born on April 10, 1946 and passed away on September 12, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Judith (Connelly) Lorenc who passed in 2000, and his beloved wife Marjorie (Klimp) Berry who passed in 2017.

He is survived by his brother Garrey Pike (Sally Pike), his sister Alice Kesner, his daughter Jahna Berry (Sean Green), and his son Ethan Berry.

Michael married his Beloved Margie on  May 29, 1971 in Dearborn Michigan.

Michael was a dedicated, loving husband to his Beloved Margie. Her wish was his command and he loved her more than life. He took care of her with the most tender loving care the last few weeks of her life and he took solace from the fact that she passed, asleep, in his arms.

Michael was a dedicated and loving father always cheering his children on and lending them the support they needed. He was also a practical father who encouraged his children to be free independent thinkers, and independent adults.

Michael lived a long, very full and interesting life. He was an avid art and sculpture collector, loved collecting and reading books of all kinds, he loved riding his motorcycle and was enthralled with Broadway, television and what they had to offer him as an escape or something to learn from. He was always looking to learn something new and keep his mind active.

He was especially fond of Tarzan and Peter Pan.

Michael worked for Ford Motor Company, working his way up to a Tool and Die leader from 1965 until 2004 when he retired.

Michael was a straight shooter who'd tell it to you like it was without sugar coating, but he had the biggest heart you'd ever meet. He even once gave his  jacket to a homeless man one brutal winter. He always gave generously to the Goodfellows and others he felt were in need.

To quote a man I was speaking with recently about Dad "He was a great conversationalist. You loved listening to him because you never knew what interesting things he was going to come up with next!"

Michael is to be cremated with a memorial to come at a future date.

Not sure what to say?

Jahna - I've known your dad since the days at your grandmother's house in the south end, right across the street from the school. Alice and I were good friends through high school and she stood up for my wedding. I remember when your dad introduced me to your mom and then, years later, we hired her to work at the Library--boy was she a hard-worker! Your dad was a kind, loving man who always made me laugh - and I will always remember him. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Mr Michael was a great man. He picked me up at a ozz fest and took me to the local cuisine and I surely enjoyed his company and later was introduced to his daughter Jahna. We share the same conditions and have been friends with the whole family since. You will be missed. We all loved the straight shooter that you were. Love you old man we will meet again. To the family keep your heads held high and praise him for the man he is.
