Today many of us are paying our respects and mourning the loss of Mick. There have been tears shed, hugs and comforting one another. I would like to take a moment to pause from that, Celebrate a life that brought so many of us joy and happiness. My hope is I can share a couple stories that might bring a smile, small chuckle or jog a personal memory that Mick created with you. So maybe that tear might just have a glimmer of joy in it. 1.) Meagan, please know the entire Benninger family send their love and thoughts to you and your family!!! I remember Mick vividly and enjoyed his company and banter when he was a med student...he had a dry sense of humor and was able to think quickly on his feet with witty zingers during our conversations. He would pop into my office for quick informal chats about sports (Ducks & oregon highschool games, etc...), challenging ethical dilemmas in medicine, latest innovative med tech I was...

Mick was one of my Spanish students at Tualatin High school. I remember him as being a highly intelligent young man with a great sense of humor. I was almost as tall as he was, and I used to joke that I didn’t allow students taller than myself in my classes! He was a hard worker and a gifted student, with a ready sense of humor! I knew that he was one of those special young people that I would have the good fortune to teach, and also knew that he would excel at whatever he chose to pursue....

We are heartbroken over Mick's passing. We watched him grow up playing sports with our children, and there was never a time he couldn't bring a smile to our faces. Such a wonderful young man. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bies family.
