Monarch Society Obituary

It is with immense sadness we announce the death of Mike Biggs on December 3, 2017 at age 48. He was a caring father, husband, son, brother and friend who will be terribly missed by all.

To say Mike Biggs had a life well-lived is an understatement. When life wasn’t handing Mike opportunities to learn more and do more, he was busy seeking these opportunities from life. Mike was an amazing and selfless person. He was intelligent, hardworking and thoughtful but above all else he loved his family and was loved by his family. He was very affectionate and never missed a day without ensuring his family knew they were loved. His sense of humor, in his quiet way, always made people laugh. Mike loved any opportunity to get outside on his road bike, especially in the mountains; a passion he shared with his brother and close friends. He loved skiing, cooking, music, building things, exploring the world and the outdoors, and, most of all, his family. He had a keen interest in environmental issues, technology and art. He had an obscenely long daily Duo Lingo streak. Most of all, Mike loved to make others feel loved. In the end, this love and generosity for the world allowed him to be an organ donor to provide life and sight for others. The world needs more people like Mike.

Mike was born and grew up in San Diego, California. He held a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.B.A. degree in sustainability from the University of Colorado. He was a named inventor on over two dozen U.S. patents in the medical device field. He loved working in the Medical Device industry for 25 years, and worked at Encision for the last five years, most recently as the VP of Development.

Mike was an incredibly sensitive and loving person. He was the beloved husband of Margo Scharer, amazing and devoted Dad to Remy and Zack, cherished son to Geoff and Ann Biggs of San Diego, CA, loving brother to Steve Biggs (Pam Biggs) of Clayton, CA. Mike will be missed by so many other family and friends who loved and cared about him deeply. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a memorial park bench for Mike Biggs https://www.youcaring.com/mikebiggs placed in his honor in a public outdoor space or consider donating in Mike Biggs’ memory to Bicycle Colorado https://www.bicyclecolorado.org/join-us/donate/in-memory/

Not sure what to say?

Was so very saddened to learn of Mikes untimely passing. He was a dear friend in college. I had the privilege to work with him on campus in the computer labs at Cal. I remember him as a quiet, friendly, smart, funny and kind man who brewed his own beer. Mike was a good and trusted friend during a difficult time in my life. We, unfortunately, lost touch after college. Glad to know he lived a full and happy life. My condolences to his wife and family, and to those who were fortunate to...

Mike was an awesome guy. I was a transfer student to La Jolla High School and he was one of the first people I met, he told me it would be ok - and it was. We lost touch after college, but I will always remember his kindness, humor and honesty.

When I was 6 years old in La Jolla, Mike was my best friend! We got stuck under a manhole cover and the fire dept. had to rescue us. I wont forget his boxer thst used to chase me around. I'm so sorry for your loss! Please let Ann Biggs know that I'm the son of John and Gloria Phillips and was very close to the Matthews as well. Ill never forget her accent. Loving Amazing family!

Mike was a great guy and great engineer. I had the pleasure of working with this dedicated guy @ Broncus and learned first hand of his good spirit and wit which accompanied his skill. With sympathy,

Quiet, caring, funny. Mike made the world around him better and his influence is still felt among his Broncus family. I am glad to have had the chance to be on his team. Thoughts and prayers for Mike and his family are with you from our family and so many.

Margo, Remy & Zack, We are so sorry for your loss. Mike was a wonderful man and will be missed by many.

Margo, I am so sorry for your loss. I will pray for all of you as you find your way these next months.

Margo, Remy & Zack. We are sorry to learn of the loss of your dear husband and father. May his love and presence always be near in the wonderful memories that you all share.

Mike was an intelligent, understanding and insightful boss. He was quite, and always chose his words wisely. When Mike spoke, people listened. He will be missed.
