Brooklawn Funeral Home - Rocky Hill Obituary

Michael W. Birch, 59, of Salem, CT, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2025. Born in Centerbrook, CT, he was predeceased by his parents, Karen (Miller) and Federico Schiavone, Sr.

Michael was a dedicated and hardworking man, known for his kindness, and sense of humor. He had a deep love for fishing, duck hunting, and spending time with his family and cherished grandchildren. His generosity, moves on the dance floor, and his uncanny ability to whip up a nickname for everyone he crossed paths with—whether they wanted one or not—will not be forgotten.

He is survived by his daughters, Devin Aitken (Aaron) and Haley Birch; his beloved grandchildren, Aaron Jr. and Annaleigha Aitken; and his siblings, Kellie Payne, Tracey Schiavone (Fred), and Mario Schiavone (Richard). Michael also leaves behind six nieces, Ashley Smith (Jared), Shana Klein (Justin), Nicole Fortier (Matt), Alexandra Benedetto (Jeff), and Lyndsey Witkowski (Tyler); one nephew, DJ Payne (Erin); and nine great-nieces and nephews: Kinleigh, Greyson, Maddox, Harlow, Carly, Beau, Brie, Cooper, and Charli. In addition, Michael leaves behind his canine sidekick, Dillon, and many close and longtime friends who will remember his humor, and generous spirit.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook St. Rocky Hill, CT.
