Michael F. “Mike” Bishop, 60, of Milwaukee passed away suddenly on October 29, 2023. Born in South Bend, IN on August 29, 1963, Mike was raised in Piscataway and Princeton, NJ. He graduated from Saint Peter’s College (now Saint Peter’s University) where he received the Philosophy Medal at commencement. He also received his J.D. from Marquette University in Milwaukee where he lived and practiced law for 32 years. He was the founder and principal of Bishop Law Offices.
It is hard to describe Mike's incredibly sharp wit and his gift of repartee. He had a remarkable memory, a brilliant mind, and could recite lines from every imaginable (and unimaginable) movie. He often spoke in his own unique vernacular, sending stories and videos to his family that required the Rosetta Stone to translate. He even advanced to the semifinals of Jeopardy tryouts but fell short of making the show probably because they couldn't understand his answers had to be deciphered using his own personal jargon. However, the lingo he used was often more enjoyable than the things he was trying to say. The way he was able to turn even the most mundane things hysterically funny was one his greatest gifts.
Michael was a lover of many things, from the common everyday monotony to the more intricate wonders of life. He had a fixation on duct tape and often said that it could not only resolve all household repairs, but it may even be able to bring peace in the world.
He enjoyed fishing in Canada and playing the card game "Sheepshead" with his buddies. Above all, he was devoted to his children, Dakota and Jake, his best friends. and partners in crime. He was thrilled by every one of their accomplishments, whether it be parallel parking on the first attempt or receiving honors in college. He followed their lives with great pride and often was a major catalyst in the decisions and moments that made them who they are today. The bond the three shared was stronger than anything else in his life, and anyone or thing that messed with one had to deal with all three. He will be greatly missed by them, but his memory and the unique mannerisms that made him the person he was will live on through them.
Mike is predeceased by his father, James F. Bishop. He is survived by his former wife Jennifer Bishop, his two children, daughter Dakota Rae and son Jacob Hunter, his mother, Shirley McNulty Bishop, his sister, Noreen Bishop Hill (Steven) and his brother, James F. Bishop, Jr (Delia). He leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, Liam, Hanna, and Molly Bishop, as well as Helen Hill.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you enjoy the little things in life and try to make the world smile as he often did. Visitation will be held from 4pm-7pm on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Brett Funeral Home at 2001 W Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53233.
