Not sure what to say?

Very sorry to hear this news. I had the chance to reconnect with Mike 2 years ago, having lost touch in the late 60's. We met for lunch at his favorite deli in Agawam, and spent most of the afternoon catching up. I was reminded what a great guy he was. And from the Bronx! I never knew that. He remembered a lot of things I had long forgotten about--crazy days at Classical, teachers, friends, great football games, even taking a trip to New London in summer '66 and getting very lost on the way....

Mike was my closest high school friend and best man at my wedding. A biting sarcastic wit may have obscured the caring soul of this man for many
He brought joy and laughter to my life and will
Be forever remembered.
You will be forever missed,

As a colleague at the Republican, formerly the Union-News, I am sorry to hear of the loss of Mike. He had a rapier wit and a disarmingly honest vision of life and journalism. He was not afraid to tell it like it is - even in his own obituary. In his time, that meant detouring from the tried and true formula of focusing on male athletes to the exclusion of great female athletes. His loved ones can be proud of his efforts to boost recognition of all athletes. As a former student athlete who...

Sorry to hear about Mike's death. Just ran into him a month ago after 50 years. We talked about our upcoming 50th Classical reunion. Almost had him convinced to attend.

I was very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He did a great deal for high school athletics in WMASS. He will be missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.

Dear Michele and Lee and family -- It is with so much sadness Larry and I learned just today of Michael's passing. We know Michael is overjoyed at being with his love and best friend, Gail, at last. We will miss him, realizing he's no longer just a few miles away. Love to you all.

(This was from myfacebook post earlier today)

I read in the newspaper today about the death of Mike Bogen, former Sportswriter of the Republican.

Though I only spoke with him a handful of times, he was a different sort of journalist. He would get depth out of his interviews and write stories that were unique and with a different angle than some of the "cookie cutter" reports one sees more of today.

I really enjoyed our conversations.
When he wrote about my Track and...

Mike,
thank you for all of your help in getting me started with body building . That was about 30 years ago when I walked into your sports cards shop in Agawam. Our friendship began.
RIP Mike .

So sorry. I remember Mike from the Washington Street School playground and we worked together at the Springfield Union. He was a great reporter and writer and a fun person to be around.
