Michael J. Bolda

Michael J. Bolda, 77, of Bay Port died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, while under hospice care. Mike was born Feb. 24, 1940, in Dwight Township to the late Raymond Bolda and Beatrice Ignash. He attended school in Port Hope. He married Betty Jane Deming on Jan. 20, 1962, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon. She preceded him in death Jan. 12, 2013. Mike worked 42 years at Active/Tower Automotive, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and playing euchre. He enjoyed working around his home, fixing broken items and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children Lori (Mark) Schooley of Bay Port, Cindy of Bay Port, Michelle Lynn (Donald J.) Osentoski of Wisconsin and Michael of Caseville; grandchildren Steven, Matthew, Mariah, Kennedy, Landen, Kenna, Jake and Adelyn; and siblings Joanne (Tom) Grey of Warren, Carl Bolda of White Lake, Venice Matelski of Pinnebog, and Linda (Leonard) Emming of Harbor Beach. He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth; and siblings Joseph, Jeanne and Raymond. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Burial will be in New Bay Port Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
