Not sure what to say?

Another year, Mike. The years pass so quickly but rest assured you are ever present in my heart and mind. You changed our lives in those short weeks at MCRD and I wonder how the others have done in life. Bob Growcock passed from this world a few years ago. He was next to me in our squad and we grew close together. He grew up a few hours North of me in Missouri but lived his life out in Nevada with wife and family. I would enjoy hearing from your family some day, friend. Always...

Sergeant Bowman, Your recruits from Platoon 2057, Sammy Chambless and myself with our brides, assembled in Dallas, Texas during the month of August, 2021. We had a few days of fellowship, food, and remembrance in order to observe the 50th anniversary of graduation from MCRD SAN DIEGO. On that very day, August 18th, we attended a Rangers game in their new stadium. We spoke of you and our experience together over the time we were with one another. We brought articles we were issued at...

Sergeant Bowman, I keep you ever present in my thoughts and have your picture above my desk. You prepared me for the war I was sent to in Vietnam. I am active in the Marine Corps League and truly believe "Once a Marine, Always a Marine." Rest easy, Marine. Ssgt "Chris Christeson" 30th January, 2019

Sgt Bowman was one of my DI's, just as he was for CHRIS CHRISTESON back in June of 1971. He was always my favorite DI/Sgt and continues in my memories of back then. He taught myself and the other Marines many lessons back then and was a fair and decent Marine with respect for all. My condolences. RIP Marine!!!

Sgt Daniel Clinkscales, Sgt. USMC. Marine Security Guard, Ankara, Turkey (09/1980-10/1981. My deepest condolences to the family of John Bowman. He was one of the finest Marines I had the privelege & pleasure of serving with. I pray that all 3 families wil take care of Karen. Her's the Bowman's and the Marines' RIP my brother. He is still laughing about me
being the only cook/baker in the history of the Corps with a "secret violation" on his record.

I am proud to say that I served with this Fine Marine at the U.S. Embassy Ankara, Turkey. He was a pleasure to serve under. At St. Peter's gate we will once again reunite to serve the Lord. Sgt. Dan Clinkscales, USMC

Gysgt Michael Bowman, first man on left. Marine Corp Ball, Ankara Turkey 1980

Its February 11th 2013, and I have only just found about Gunny Bowman's death. I served with him in 1980 and 81 in Ankara Turkey. He was the best NCO I served with in more than 5 years in the Corp. I learned alot from him. I am deeply saddened to know he is gone. Semper FI
