Broomhead Funeral Home - Riverton Obituary

Michael V. Bowman, 68, passed away on June 29, 2025, in Murray, Utah. Born December 26, 1956, in Salt Lake City at LDS Hospital, Mike lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and deep devotion to the people he loved.

Mike graduated from Granite High School in 1975 and soon after began his career at Hollyworld Foods (also known as Fancy Foods). In 1976, he entered the flooring industry, where he spent over two decades working on his hands and knees, building a name as someone who was dependable, skilled, and hardworking.

In the late 1990s, Mike moved into flooring sales, a role he held until just this past June. Over the years, he earned a strong reputation across Utah and beyond not just for his work on high-end homes, but for the genuine connections he formed with customers and colleagues. During the winter months, he also did snow removal across the valley, always willing to step in and lend a hand wherever it was needed.

Mike’s true pride and greatest JOY came from being a father and grandfather. His children, Jessica and Chad, and his grandchildren, Tyson and Leah, were the center of his world. Known affectionately as “G-PA,” Mike never missed a game, recital, or special moment. He was their biggest supporter and closest friend. Whether it was sleepovers at his house, having their monthly dinner dates at Village Inn, camping trips, or just one-on-one time, G-PA made every moment count. His grand pup Gizmo adored him just as much, always excited to be near his G-PA.

Mike loved the outdoors. In his younger years he loved hunting with his brother Kevin and as he got older, he found peace at his property in Mount Pleasant, Utah, camping, riding ATVs, and relaxing by the fire pit. He also had a passion for collecting shot glasses and coffee mugs, each one a small reminder of places visited, and memories made.

In his quieter moments, Mike enjoyed the simple pleasures watching the nightly news with an ice cream sandwich or a sweet treat in hand, and sitting out on his front porch, taking in the world around him and watching “all the crazies go by,” as he liked to say with a laugh and notorious Mike Bowman “smirk”

Mike is survived by his daughter Jessica Hatch, his son Chad Bowman, and his beloved grandchildren Tyson and Leah Hatch. He is also survived by his siblings Steve Bowman (Stacie), Kevin Bowman (Leslie), and Jodee Gold (Ryan). He was preceded in death by his parents, Veaughn and Joylyn Bowman, as well as many other loved ones who welcomed him home with open arms.

Mike’s favorite quote was, “Just take it one day at a time” a simple reminder that reflected how he lived: steady, present, and grounded in what truly mattered.

To know Mike was to know someone honest, generous, and steady. He showed up for people without being asked and gave everything he had to his family and his work. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and quiet kindness and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mike you will be missed. RIP, Love ya

For more years then I can care to count. You counted me as family. So many nights by the camp fire just enjoying the peace of the mountains. Thank you for the journey and the many laughs and especially teasing your brother Kevin. You are among the best. Give Mom Bowman a hug for me.

Oh Michael Bowman, I loved you. We could always laugh together whenever we saw each other. You will be missed. RIP, I’m sure your mom & Dad welcomed you with open arms.

Chad,
You and I have been together!

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

Dear Chad, Jessica, Kevin, and Family,
I am very sorry and saddened to hear about Mikes passing. There are no words that can take away your broken hearts and sadness. I will always have fond memories of our friendship. The boulders that he gathered for me from B-40 are still in my yard. May you find comfort in the memories you shared. Sending you love and strength during this difficult time.
