Please know that my son, Joe Roth, was a friend of Michael. Joe always spoke affectionately of him. It has taken me a while to write to you because Joe died, also of an accidental overdose, on October 2. There are no words. I just wanted to reach out.

Reading the comments of others here and in social media, it is clear that Michael was a great source of support for the many who enjoyed his company. For my part, I remember occasions my son Matt came home from high school recounting how Michael had made him laugh with some quick-witted comment or silly take on an assignment. I also remember Michael's talent in playing Apples to Apples, where his ability to see funny and tenuous associations always...
