Angelus Funeral Home - San Antonio Obituary

                                                              MICHAEL CASTANEDA
                                                                     August 8, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Castaneda announces his passing after a 5 year long battle with Stage 4 brain cancer. He went to the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the age of 55. He was preceded in death by his father, Roberto Castaneda.

Michael will be lovingly remembered and missed by his mother, Anita Castaneda; daughters, Vanessa Castaneda (Joel) and Lauren Castaneda; brothers, Robert (Linda), Luis (Frances), Albert and Richard; uncle, Gerald (Linda); and extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends. Michael was blessed with two wonderful grandchildren, Avery Cardenas and Marc Zepeda.

Michael enjoyed spending time with family, especially his daughters, grandchildren, and brothers. For many years Michael was heavily involved with and supported the St. Gregory’s ACTS community and parish.

In December of 2013, Michael was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. Michael’s drive and perseverance was incredible. He believed in living a healthy life and continuing to keep his body strong mentally and physically. His faith in God during this time couldn't have been stronger. He was and still is an inspiration; his family couldn't be more proud. Throughout his journey battling cancer, Michael and his family were grateful for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Lisa Fichtel and Dr. Christopher Bogaev and their staff.
