Mike and I were cousins, through my dad, Pete Briones', family. Mike was not my first cousin, and I'm not exactly sure how distant of cousins we were, but it never really mattered, because we knew we family. I was always happy to see Mike. Mike is my cousin on my father's side. My father is Pete Briones. Mike and I were in basic training together. We flew out of Fresno the same day. We were separated once we were assigned and didin't see each other again until the flight to come home. We arrived in Los Angeles where his family was waiting to drive him back to Pinedale. He offered me a ride but I already had a paid flight in the morning.
Over the years I ran into him a few times and just want to let you know I was saddened to see the notice of his funeral service.
