Graveside service for Michael Roy Champion, 54, of Priceville will be today, Jan. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Blue Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph McCollum officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Champion, who died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, was born Jan. 19, 1954, in Decatur to Lee R. and Hilda Champion. He was a machinist and vice president of Champion Fabrication and Machine. He loved the Lord, was an accomplished musician, enjoyed fishing and all things aquatic, and loved Alabama Football. He was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. His father, Lee R. Champion; and his grandparents, Robert and Essie Champion and Sid and Essie Lauderdale, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Hilda Champion Turner; stepfather, Cecil Turner; three sisters, Gayle Champion Jacobs, Connie Champion Perry and Lori Champion Weeks; two step-brothers, Thomas Michael Turner and Cecil Howard Turner Jr.; aunt, Doris Rigel; one nephew, two nieces and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lynn, Mitchell Rigel, Gary Fairbanks, Jimmy Clark, Mark Fairbanks, Keenan Osborn, James Trussell, Jody White and Ricky Maxwell.

Hilda and family: My family loved Mike. He was a loving, kind, gentle and sweet man. I saw him often and each and every time we talked he never failed to tell me he loved me. My family felt as if he was part of us.
I will always think of him with affection and I will miss him always.
