Not sure what to say?

My experience with Mike Cleveland was inspiring as he directed two choirs I was involved in. When he first arrived as choir director of the First United Methodist Church, he reminded me of Bob Newhart (mannerisms)! Although he was so busy with the University's music department, he graciously agreed to direct a small women's ensemble who sang at the church whenever the choir took a break. That was the start of a very successful Sierra Women's Ensemble which is now known as Bella Voce. I...

Mike, was a good friend to Alan McGee, and he came to one of our reunions, and played the piano for us to sing our class song, I know many will miss him, and especially his family.

I saw Mike everyday, sometimes twice. He brought his family to the Gold N Silver restaurant to eat, and on Sundays he would come in with his church group. I will miss him the most when he would come in with his son, Mark in the evenings and have dinner, what a pair. He always had something to say and he made me laugh. I will miss you Mike! May you rest in peace.
Love Kim Morris, Cashier at the Gold N Silver restaurant.

Sincere condolences goes out to the Cleveland family for your sad loss. May GOD be with the family as you mourn the loss of Michael.

May God be your strength in this time of sorrow, Matthew 5:4 "Happy are those who mourn since they will be comforted."

Mike was one of the first people I encountered upon coming to the University of Nevada, Reno. It did not matter that I was not connected to the Music Department. He cared about people and the institution. As a colleague, Mike's advice to me has stood me well over the years. He was missed when he retired and now, we all will miss him. Mike Simons, Sparks NV.

Mike was a passionate educator and a wonderful mentor. It was with his help and guidance that I have been a music educator for 26 years. Thank you Mike, you will be missed.

Mike was a talented composer, performer, conductor, music administrator, and mentor. He gave me opportunities as a graduate student, college instructor, and player that I didn't know existed. He was an unfailing source of inspiration and support for me, and I owe him much. Bravo, Mike, for your years with us. You will be missed.
