I met Michael during Peace Corps training in Niger in 1989. He was very bright and personable. We got together frequently once we got to our posts. In 2012, I visited Michael at his sheep farm in southern France. He had a great life there and I'm so sad to learn that he is gone. Michael was a unique guy!

I will miss him. I spent several weeks with Michael both on his farm in France and his farm in Vermont. He was a kind and gentle man.

What an amazing life history! Although I grew up in the extended Family as a 1st cousin, I never knew about the myriad of accomplishments,degrees, adventures, & passions that Michael experienced & shared with others. He is missed by all who knew him and by the world which needs more like him.
