McCann-Healey Funeral Home - Gloucester City Obituary

Haddon Township - Age 69, on February 20, 2024, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ellen B. Costello (nee Rab), cherished father of Michael R. (Lynn) and Shawn F. (Bret). Devoted grandfather of Lauren, Amanda, and Lana.

Michael was born in Camden and raised in Haddon Township. Michael was a graduate of Haddon Township High School class of 1973 and a long time resident was Haddon Twp. Michael started his career as a proud and dedicated union carpenter in 1978. He joined Local Carpenter’s  Union Local #393 in Gloucester City  and was very hard working. Michael retired from the union after a long and distinguished career.

Michael loved his family, horse racing, classic movies, good food, and trivia.

At Michael’s request, cremation was private and there are no services.

In lieu of flowers, Michael would appreciate a tree planted in his memory.

Not sure what to say?

Hi Ellen,
I remember the Cos from way back in grammar school. He went to St Rose and we hung out as members of the original Cox Gang, but in 7th grade(or maybe 8th?) Cos transferred to Twp. Man things were so different back then. I remember cutting school with Cos and Danny Santoro(he passed) and Cos getting caught. His mom came down the Cox lane and Cos was hiding upstairs in The Barn... It was something out of an Our Gang episode!
We had such an incredible storybook...

We will surely miss The Cos!
Love, Bill and Heidy Citerone

Thanks for all the assists. You were a great leader on the court and I'm glad we were friends those early years.

Ellen and Family,
We are so sorry for your loss.
I will remember my cousin Michael for his inviting smile, quick wit and kind heart. I’m sure he will be greatly missed.
With Deep Sympathy,
Diane and Rich Little

Shawn (Ellen and Mike too), Time and distance means we do not cross paths like we used to, but I can tell you that I hold the Costello family in my good thoughts. I am very sorry to learn about your Father. I have great memories of being a kid, hanging out at your house, with you AND your parents! There was always a bit of honest advice as well as a laugh to be had in your home. I know he was loved and will be missed. Please take care of yourself and each other during this time and times to...

With deepest sympathy to The Costello Family!! Love Ed McGurk and family!! Local 393

To the Family of Mike Costello
Worked many jobs with Mike during his career as a carpenter in local 393. It saddens me deeply of his passing.
You only meet a few good men in your lifetime and Mike was certainly one of them. My deepest sympathy
