Not sure what to say?

I am so saddened by Mr. Cotter's passing. But so happy he was there for me with kindness and understanding in some stressful times when I was trying jury trials before judges he was working with. His friendly face was needed and appreciated. As are the posts by those who saw what a wonderful human being Michael Cotter was. I just wish I knew more about what made him that way.

Mike was one of my photography students at Miami Dade College, and I quite often interacted with him in his capacity as a Bailiff at Miami-Dade Courts. Mike was the consummate professional in everything he did. As a photography student, he was attentive, respectful, and very witty. As a Bailiff, Mike was always cognizant of the needs of the public, the attorneys, and the Court. He was very approachable, and was never too busy to offer his assistance to someone who was obviously lost on...

My deepest condolences to the family for the passing of Mike. He was a great asset to the court system. He will be missed by many.

Presented at the Prayer Service, Friday, April 11, 2025 by Mic Mikolai: POKER CHIPS & PLAYING CARDS HEINEKEN With heavy, but full, hearts we are here to celebrate our friend - our brother, Mike Cotter. Certainly, God broke the mold with Mike. Can any of us really think of anyone else quite like him? Just one of his standout characteristics was his personal humility, which belied his many accomplishments, careers and hobbies. The twinkle in his eye when he shared or found something...

Presented at the Prayer Service, Friday, April 11, 2025 by Bob Long: For those of you who may not know me, I´m Bob Long. First, I acknowledge Mike´s brothers and sisters, nieces, other family members and many friends. I was fortunate enough to meet Mike in 1969 or 70, while living at Jade Gardens. This was the single´s place of single´s places. At that time, Mike was working an entry level job with the Miami Dolphins. Following that, he took a job at the Miami Seaquarium, where his job was...

Mike Was a lovely human being, kind attentive and warm. Would find the right words to say to make the litigants feel at ease. Fortunate to have known such a fine gentleman.

Mike was an amazing man that I called friend. Yet there is so much more I didn´t know about him. He was a celebrity in his own right, but he was so humble that few if anyone knew. He effortlessly touched so many lives. Though he´s gone he will always be loved, and never forgotten. He had such a sweet spirit, and he will be missed dearly!

Everyone at the courthouse was familiar with and admired Michael´s baking abilities and the delicacies he brought from his oven to their offices for their consumption and enjoyment. But Michael met his Waterloo when it came to baking birthday cakes for his and his sister Teri´s friend, Rebekah Poston. On or near Rebekah´s birthday in April, every year, Teri would select the birthday card and Michael would bake Rebekah´s favorite devil´s food cake with maple icing. Michael would take an...

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike at work when I first moved to Miami in 2001. I remember him baking the best pineapple upside down cake. He was always a friendly, respectful, kind gentleman. My deepest condolences for your loss and may you find warmth and comfort in the memories you have.
